Progress report

This week we went to Ealing as a group and started filming certain bits of our production. We brought along one of our actors Rahelan who is the boxer. We recorded a scene where he tries to take out some money out of the bank baring in mind he is loaded however had no money in his bank account. We also took a photo shoot of our boxer to upload on my blog in order to convey his appearance etc.
Also the images are to be used for my magazine cover. We visited a drama teacher to get help with our script and he gave us an idea of how we should present the Wag which was very convenient.

Boxer

These photos of the boxer show the characters presentation and identity as to how a real/normal boxer would be appeared as however our chosen actor is quite different. A McDonald's milkshake is held in his hand to imply and convey his scorn act. Also the uploaded pictures convey the positions of his act highlighting the role of a boxer. More over the glasses also make the act quite funny as boxers have a tendency of being topless, careful with their diet, care about appearance; always wanting to look good etc. hence the use of McDonald's in his hand and glasses make the scene look more amusing for the audience.

Progress report.

PROGRESS REPORT:

Within the week we've all had a look at other locations where we can film our production, places like a bus stop, library, off licenses, and streets. Pictures have been taken and uploaded onto our blog and have been taken into consideration on whether those are the suitable and appropriate locations for our production.

We've come up with an idea of 3 lives all in one production where they are failing to do what they want which lead

Mise en scene planning.

One of the pre production tasks was to look at the Mise en scene of our program.

Casting:
As shown in our presentation we have already looked at a number of different cast members who fit the role of our characters well. We are also hoping to work closely with the schools drama department in order to cast the correct members for our production in order to make it as professional as possible.

Locations:
We have also briefly discussed locations in our presentation. When discussing on locations for characters such as the immigrant we thought of Southall Broadway but later came to the conclusion it would be inappropriate because of the riots in 1984 it could offend a number of people and also break ofcom's rules. Other highly Asian populated areas such as Hounslow will be used instead. We will also be having scenes shot in estates, gyms and boxing arena's alone.

Lighting:
When considering lighting we decided it would be best for the type of program it is to leave it looking as natural as possible and so we have decided to use no particular lighting and just natural lighting.

Props:
Each character will possess different props. For example the failed boxer will carry boxing gloves, the failed WAG would carry a handbag with an animal inside of it.

Costumes:
The costumes worn by the actors is a very important aspect in this program as it will be what allows the audience to differentiate the characters with for example the failed boxer is likely to be wearing boxing clothes such as shorts and so the audience are able to recognize and identify with him.

Progress Report

21st -
This week for my pre production, I will be making the schedule as to when my group will meet up to take part in our production. For example, having a mini meeting to discuss any new idea's etc.

Also, the schedule will include what days we will do what and roughly have an estimated time for how long we will spend with each other. There will be days where we bring certain equipment to the meeting and maybe even actors who may be involved in the production.

Ill manors questions.

a) What are the typical codes and conventions of film trailers - what information is usually provided?
The typical codes shown within film trailors are usually the ideology and iconography which tends to hint what the film is about and what it's got to do with it. For instance, if the iconography was a weapan such as a gun, it portrays the violence within the film and possibly foreshadows the consequence and ending.
b) How are trailers distributed?
They pay for the trailer to be shown in cinema. then are able to pay for the actual film to be shown in cinema.
c) How does Ill Manors use trailer conventions?
The audience are able to identify the genre by the iconography shown in the trailor; which in this case is a gun. This leaves the audience to get an understanding of the film and would expect there to be villians, police, violence, etc. Ill manors have used drugs and weapons in the trailor conveying the negativity in the film. Also, the audience are left to suspect criminals in the film which hints the genre.

d) Who is the target audience?
The target audience for ill manors is C/D which are mainly teenagers and young adults.
e) Does it have a unique selling point or use particular techniques to appeal to the audience?
The film had particular techniques where it included enigma codes, action codes and ideology in the films film cover. this was conveying the violence and struggle within the film.
f) Consider the way the scenes are edited together – does the trailer give away any clues about the narrative?
the trailer gives it away that the narrative has something to do with drugs. also, violence within the film because of the focus on the gun.
g) Are the main stars visible in the trailer?
The main stars Plan B is a famous rapper which many young people know of. this influences people to watch the video as the theme of struggle is portrayed. also the background music is of Plan B rapping about peoples deprived lives in the council estate getting themselves into drugs etc.
h) Is there information about the director of the film?
Ben Drew - Plan B , a famous rapper.
i) Is there information about the release date?
6 June 2012 (UK) j) Is a narrator’s voice-over used?
The narrators voice is heard in particular parts of the film when he raps about different themes in life.
k) How has the genre of the film been represented through characters, settings, lighting, colour, music, camera shots/movements/angles and editing?

The iconography shows that the narrative has got to do with crime, although the use of setting and music portrays it has got to do with teenagers who have got themselves into the wrong path in life. shows struggle in their lifes hence they're involved with drugs. the lyrics in the background music talks about life. talks about how people are how the are because of their lives at home. the characters are shown as hoodrats, indicating the stereotypical view on teenagers nowdays.
