This film was published in the 1930's. In this trailer, the colour is in black and white due to not having programmes in colour in the olden days. However, the lighting was still noticeable. For example, the lighting is focused on a certain part when the woman is speaking. Not only is the lighting based on her face, but the angle is mid shot focusing from her shoulders up to her face. Also, at 2:06, you can see the back of the males head and cannot see the head which shows the high key lighting as his head was blacked out. This connotes mystery, and could suggest that is walking towards a dark area which creates enigma for the audience.
We then see that the male has walked straight into a dark background creating tension for the audience as we can only see his body fading into the dark. From a mid shot, we notice that it slowly turns into a long shot the audience can then see his full body. The male then disappears and the fading grows stronger as his existence appears. This effect is useful as it creates tension for the audience to consider what just happened.
Moreover, in the beginning of the trailer, we see that the angle is taken from a birds eye view as the camera is looking down at both actors. The crane shot enables the audience to see the whole of the room and both characters and how they react. Also, the sounds were diegetic sounds as the sounds were originated from the source.
This film was published in 1990's and is very different to the film in 1930's.
Firstly, the audience is able to see colour, such as the colour of people's clothing, and everything within the mise en scene. In this film, props are used, costumes are different (peoples dress sense were different) and make up for the actors were used.
Also, the sounds used were non-diegetic and diegetic at different times. For instance, when the car was parking, and the background music.
The props used in some scenes were a guy holding a cigarette at a casino which was something common to do in those days.
Moreover, in the beginning, there is a close up of a man's eye which creates effect as it could represent fear however in this situation is only done to create effect.
The comparison between the two is that they used similar angle shots to create effect. For example, both films used mid shot so the camera was focusing on the persons shoulders, upwards. This type of shot was most used when someone had something important so say, so was then focused on how their facial expressions would relate.
Both films had different lighting at different parts. For example, the one in 1930 used to lighting which only focused on his back and showed a black background and the film in 1990, shows high key lighting when the boy is looking down through the window blinds. Not only does this focus on the lighting, but is also a Point of View angle shot as the camera focuses on his face, then looks at what he is looking, the focuses back on his face so the audience understands what he may be feeling.
In addition, there was more mise en scene in the 1990's video whereas the film in 1930 only had a chair that was used as a prop. However, both films did include props.
